Lumbar disc hernia
Herniated discs occur most often at the lumbar level of the spine, because the lower you go on the spine, the heavier is the weight supported, and therefore the more intense is the mechanical force exerted on the intervertebral discs.
The interventions for a herniated lumbar disc are:
- Removal of herniated disc by posterior approach, under microscope
- Removal of anterior disc hernia by the retroperitoneal approach
- Endoscopic operation
- Laser
